Wiitta Oy, a Finnish manufacturer of demanding injection-moulded plastic products, is expanding its service offering by launching large format 3D printing services (Large Format Additive Manufacturing, LFAM). The new service complements Wiitta Oy’s existing production capabilities and provides customers with an entirely new way to develop and manufacture large plastic components.
LFAM technology enables the 3D printing of plastic and composite structures measuring several metres in size without traditional moulds. This offers significant advantages particularly in product development, prototyping, small-batch production, and large, geometrically complex structures.
A natural extension of Wiitta Oy’s expertise
As a 53-year-young family-owned company, Wiitta Oy has extensive experience in advanced plastics engineering, large injection-moulded parts, and industrial serial production. LFAM services form a natural continuation of this expertise:
- LFAM is well suited for rapid development and flexible structures
- Injection moulding provides a cost-efficient solution for high-volume production
Together, these technologies offer customers a clear and efficient pathway from concept to production.
“LFAM does not replace injection moulding – it complements it. We can now offer our customers the right manufacturing method at every stage of development,” says Wille Viittanen, Entrepreneur and CEO of Wiitta Oy.
Internationally proven technology – now part of Finnish industry
Wiitta Oy’s LFAM services are based on the same technological developments that international pioneers have already adopted successfully. Wiitta Oy brings these learnings to Finland, combining them with its own industrial manufacturing expertise, quality management systems, and responsible production practices.
Wiitta Oy’s LFAM services include:
- Large format 3D printing of plastic and composite parts
- Prototypes, functional test parts, and small production batches
- Structural optimisation and lightweight designs
- The possibility to use recycled and bio-based materials
- A seamless transition from LFAM development to injection-moulded serial production
LFAM services are delivered in close cooperation with Giga 3D Oy, which specialises in large format 3D printing and digital manufacturing.
Looking ahead
Wiitta Oy’s goal is to provide customers with a comprehensive manufacturing solution that combines agility, industrial quality, and cost efficiency.
“We believe LFAM will become a key part of future industrial plastics manufacturing – especially where speed, flexibility, and large structures are required,” a Wiitta Oy representative adds.
Wiitta Oy begins offering LFAM services immediately and is currently seeking pilot projects with industrial customers.
